Edentulous reconstruction options: BLX, the implant for Immediate full-arch reconstruction with Straumann® BLX implant
The full-arch prosthetic reconstruction using dental implants can be challenging, especially in immediate treatment.
The use of Straumann® BLX implants in Straumann® Pro Arch reconstruction aids primary stability, which improves the predictability of the treatment. The thread design of the implant as well as a smaller diameter neck are complimentary to the initial stability and long-term bone stability. Where are the boundaries? It is important to rely on biological feedback when using the initial pilot drill to assess the quality of the bone where the osteotomy for the implant will be made. Visualization of the insertion point is important, as well as the implant placement sequence can help in design and maintenance of a prosthesis. This is particularly important when the choice is a hybrid prosthesis. This presentation will focus on Straumann® Pro Arch reconstructions, also when tilted implants are indicated. All salient points for successful treatment with Straumann® BLX implants will be demonstrated using clinical case reports.
Learning objectives:
1. Individualized planning of edentulous reconstructions
2. Achieving primary stability with Straumann® BLX implant in different bone situations
3. Biological feedback from implant preparation is key to success
4. Planning by the full treatment team before treatment
